Named from the Choctaw for "redman," and nicknamed The
Sooner State. Oklahoma is bordered by Colorado and Kansas to the north;
Missouri and Arkansas to the east; New Mexico to
the west and Texas to the south.
Oklahoma's highest peak is Black Mesa, which is at 4,973 feet, the 23rd highest in the United States. The lowest point is at the Little River, 287 feet above sea level.
