The meaning of Indiana is "land
of the Indians," and nicknamed The Hoosier State. Indiana is bordered by Michigan to the north;
Illinois to the west; Ohio to
the east and Kentucky to the south.
Indiana's highest peak is Hoosier Hill at 1,257 feet, the 44th highest in the United States. The lowest point is along the southwest boundary, which is 320 feet above sea level.
